How to Create a Stress Filled Saturday

The first thing you can do to create a little stress in your life is do one or more of the following items:

  • Plan a project
  • Make sure that project is something you have never done before.
  • Project should involve mechanical skills and tools.
  • Throw in some electronics for fun.
  • Buy from a local store thinking you will receive expert advice and assistance if needed.
  • Assume the box marked “Do It Yourself” is actually referring to you, like yours truly.
  • Ask the store to include everything then believe that they will actually do that.
  • And most important ask the Missus to help you with the project.

I hit all the above points today, by thinking I could install a Mighty Mule 500 automatic gate opener in a couple of hours, silly me!  Even before today, I had to ask the Missus to pop by the store and get a few missing items from the package.  Like the installation manual, my, my, that should have been a real clue that all was not well.  The 4 clamps, wire, and numerous bolts that were gone from the “complete kit” increased the anxiety too.

I noticed I had trouble with my comprehension of the technical install guide, but this got easier as I discovered I was in the Spanish section I guess, and found the English section, ah much better.  Doing a good job and following the manual flawlessly, I drilled 2 (3/8) holes in my gate, only to discover I was reading the push install, not the pull install on the next page, I wonder if anyone is going to notice those extra holes in the gate?

Enough, it is just getting too painful to write anymore and I have not even touched the part about the Missus repeatedly asking me not to yell at her.   So I hope I have given you some food for thought for your next project.

After Midnight Madness

Not sure how else I can describe it except madness, as I am again working into the wee hours of the night or I guess technically it is morning.  I am officially retired so why do I night after night get sucked into this black hole called the internet? I think it is because I precieve it as the last frontier.

Some call it virtual real estate, others a cyberspace, perhaps because of my horse background, I treat it like a western frontier.  I really wanted to be a cowboy, but just did not seem to be the cards, so this is my chance to be part of something that is so new and like the old west, it offers opportunity to anyone willing to put forth the effort and create a new life for themselves and their family.

It allows me to be more optimistic in a world that can seem rather bleak in the outlook for jobs, money, values and just plain helpfulness, I know  many on the internet that do help others better their lives and the possibilities are to help even 1000s more, I want to be part of that.
